A shared practice standard. A commitment to everyday dignity.

Our trauma-informed commitment
Trauma-informed certified through NTITC.
Beyond the Struggle is trauma-informed certified through NTITC's S.T.R.O.N.G.™ approach. Our community programs remain in development.
About NTITCBTS is developing its programs around the National Trauma and Inclusion Training Center, LLC's S.T.R.O.N.G.™ framework. The intention is to connect training with observable practice: how adults respond under stress, explain expectations, maintain boundaries, invite participation, and support growth.
A trauma-informed commitment is not a promise that difficult situations will disappear. It is a commitment to prepare people, examine environments and policies, respond thoughtfully, and keep improving.
Our shared mission, in practice
Our shared mission provides the purpose; NTITC's framework and practice tools provide the intended preparation standard for BTS programs. We plan to connect role-appropriate training with program environments, everyday interactions, and documented implementation—not simply a logo or training attendance.
Explore our shared mission and three pathways
The S.T.R.O.N.G.™ framework
Safety — Thoughtful environments, predictable expectations, and clear responses to concerns.
Trust and Transparency — Honest communication about what is available, what is not, and what happens next.
Regulation — Adults practicing their own regulation and offering supportive, voluntary ways to manage stress.
Opportunity for Voice and Choice — Meaningful input and real choices within necessary safety and role boundaries.
Nurturing Healthy Relationships — Consistency, respectful boundaries, connection, and repair.
Growth — Opportunities to build strengths, practice skills, and take achievable next steps.
Practice tools
S.T.O.P.™ is NTITC's self-regulation practice tool: stop; take a breath and notice your body; observe facts, assumptions, risk, and available choices; and proceed with purpose, policy, and the next safe step.
L.E.A.D.™ is NTITC's de-escalation practice tool: lower intensity; establish safety and the boundary; acknowledge and assess; and direct toward the next step.
These tools are intended to support role-appropriate practice. Breathing practices are not mandatory for participants, and the tools must not delay emergency procedures or actions required by policy. NTITC education does not establish clinical licensure or authorize anyone to exceed their role.
From training to implementation
We are designing future BTS programs to implement NTITC's S.T.R.O.N.G.™ framework, supported by its S.T.O.P.™ and L.E.A.D.™ practice tools. Our intended launch standard includes role-appropriate NTITC training, documented implementation, implementation review, and program-level certification.
We will identify a program as certified only after the applicable requirements are established, its review is complete, and certification has been issued for that program and scope. A workshop certificate or one person's training does not certify a BTS program. No proposed BTS program is represented as currently certified.
Clear organizational boundaries
Beyond the Struggle and NTITC are distinct organizations. BTS is developing community programs; NTITC provides professional education and practice frameworks.
Current status
All BTS programs described here remain in development. Training plans, implementation documentation, review processes, and program-certification criteria must be completed and verified before any launch or certification claim.
